Supplies

There are several supplies that a person should stock in order to prepare for an emergency. Some of the essential supplies to have on hand include:

  • Water: It is important to have a supply of clean drinking water in case of a disaster or emergency that disrupts the water supply. Aim to have at least one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days.
  • Non-perishable food: Stock up on non-perishable food items that do not require refrigeration, such as canned goods, protein bars, and dried fruits and nuts.
  • First-aid kit: A well-stocked first-aid kit is essential for treating injuries and providing basic medical care in an emergency.
  • Flashlight: A flashlight can provide light in the event of a power outage, and can also be used to signal for help.
  • Battery-powered or hand-crank radio: A radio is a valuable source of information during an emergency, and can be used to listen to updates and instructions from authorities.
  • Extra batteries: Make sure to have a supply of extra batteries on hand to power your flashlight and radio.
  • Multi-purpose tool: A tool such as a Swiss Army knife or a Leatherman can be useful for a variety of tasks, such as opening cans, cutting rope, and other tasks.
  • Personal documents: Keep important personal documents such as identification, insurance information, and emergency contact information in a waterproof and portable container.

In addition to these basic supplies, it is also a good idea to have a plan in place for how to evacuate or shelter in place during an emergency, and to regularly chec
